About Monica

Hi everyone!

My name is Monica and this is my blog, Live It Up with Monica. :)  This blog is my outlet, to share with you what is important to me and hopefully inspire you to make positive changes in your life!  This blog is about fitness, nutrition, living with love and intention, and creating a more sustainable life for all of us.

I live on a peninsula, south of Seattle, WA.  I am surrounded by towering evergreens, lush rain forests and water, water everywhere!  I have a beautiful life that is perfect for me and I'm grateful every day.  I have an amazing man in my life, amazing family and friends, and dogs that I love. <3  I also own a hydroponics shop where I get to spend my days teaching people how to grow their own food year round.  I am blessed to live a life according to my values, that fits who I am.

I see this every day, and the colors are always different. :)

It wasn't always this way.  I didn't start this life with the best hand of cards at the poker table.  I was depressed at some level most of my life (I now know how to manage this).  In my early twenties, I gained 40 pounds and dealt with chronic pain from a few car accidents.  People close to me have hurt me pretty badly.  I have had some very low lows.  It isn't worth my focus and attention to go into details, but these situations did serve me.  I had a hard look at how awful life could be, at what I didn't want out of life.  I lost my health.  I felt completely alone and there were times I wanted to throw in the towel.

But I found my way back.  I took control.  I learned how to control my thoughts, which then transformed the rest of my life.  I worked my ass off to get my health back, and it wasn't easy!  And with all of the other problems, I worked my way up from the bottom, brick by brick, step by step.  It was a process, one that took effort, energy and focus.

Look up.

By cleaning up my mind and my life, I have literally transformed as a person.  I am not the person I was a few years ago.  These days, I am the best of myself, not the worst.  These days, I am happy, healthy, and positive--and I'm living it up! ;)  I hope you'll join me on my journey and help me build a community of happy, healthy, shiny people who support and encourage one another as we create a better world together.

Thanks for stopping by!
